The most disruptive phenomenon that the world has seen in the last decade and more is that of digital transformation. Digital is changing the way the world works, lives and even thinks. Industry 4.0 that has evolved from GE's Industrial Internet and many European models of manufacturing and logistics is the success of cyber-physical developments created by technology push and customer pulls and enabled by business process re-engineering, advanced analytics using machine learning and artificial intelligence and cultural changes across the organisation. The way the world manufactures, stores and ships goods and manages global supply chains will change entirely in the next decade and new global winners will emerge.
“We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” (Albert
Einstein). We are living in volatile, uncertain, chaotic and ambiguous (VUCA) times. Change is everywhere. We cannot successfully redesign or modify our supply chain or business model to the new situation, if our thinking and mindset is not reinvented. This is why so many companies fail to keep pace with the change; let alone lead it. My message to the organisations is that they should nurture a courageous mind; a mindset of courage, possibilities and personal commitment to continually grow from being good to better to best. This is only possible when the mind is trained to break free of the limiting paradigms, fears and negative beliefs. Once the organisation develops transformational leaders with courageous minds then leading change and delivering disruptive innovations and results becomes easy. Remember, all change starts from within and then flows out to transform our vision into a reality.
